Learning to belly dance can be fun and beneficial to the mind, body, and soul. In the process of instruction, the dancer will also learn all about the movements, cultural influences, music, and artistic variations. Fluid movement and graceful expression are common characteristics of Egyptian Belly Dance or Rats Sharqi. Fusion styles bring together belly dance movement with other forms of dance and is centered around expression. ATS (American Tribal Style) places an emphasis on troupe improvisation and a feel or unity or connection  among the members.
